About
What Is CodeMash?
CodeMash is a unique event that will educate developers on current practices, methodologies and technology trends in variety of platforms and development languages such as Java, .NET, Ruby and PHP. Held January 8-11, 2013, at the lush Kalahari Resort in Sandusky, Ohio, attendees will be able to attend a world-class technical conference amid Ohio's largest indoor waterpark. Nobody will frown if you show up in shorts, sandals, and your loudest t-shirt. You might even win a prize for doing so.
What's on the Schedule?
CodeMash strives to motivate attendees through amazing keynotes and incredible content. Previous keynoters have included Mary Poppendeick, Scott Guthrie, Neal Ford, Scott Chacon, and Chad Fowler. Breakout sessions over the year have included everything from F# to JavaScript, mobile application development, software development processes, and so much more! There are also two days worth of hands-on workshops covering everything from test driven development to improving your communication skills.
How Much Does CodeMash Cost?
Pricing information for CodeMash 2013 is still being set; however, CodeMash 2012 cost $195 for the conference and $95 for the PreCompiler workshop day. 2013 prices will increase, but not dramatically.
Where is CodeMash?
CodeMash is held at the wonderful Kalahari Resort in Sandusky, Ohio. Yes, Sandusky. Ohio. In the middle of winter. The Kalahari has the Midwest's biggest indoor water park and a world-class conference venue.
How do I get to CodeMash?
You can walk, take a dogsled, or ride your favorite yak, but frankly we recommend driving. You can find directions to the Kalahari on their site. If you need to fly into the region, Cleveland's airport is conveinient. You can use Tom's Limo service for a shuttle, or you can coordinate a carpool on the CodeMash Google Group.
Where do I Stay While at CodeMash, and How Much Does It Cost?
You can stay wherever you like for CodeMash, but the Kalahari Resort has offered up some tremendous rates for attendees. You can read the specifics at the CodeMash Google Group discussion page.
What is the CodeMash Conference Corporation?
CodeMash Conference is incorporated as an Ohio non-profit company, and is pursuing recognition from the IRS as a 501(c)6 Business League non-profit entity.
What's This "Membership" Thing, and Why Do I Pay Dues?
It's a tax and lawyer thing. CodeMash is a Business League entity whose purpose is to create a conference and give you great educational, career-broadening content. You join CodeMash as a member which entitles you to attend these conferences. As a member, part of your attendance fee is marked off as "dues" which helps us put on this event and return value to you for your dues. Membership in CodeMash is limited to professionals in the IT industry – but please note that you’re eligible regardless of what role you hold in the IT industry. This means we’re open to members who are management, marketing, sales, and yes, good old IT geeks.
Are My Membership Dues Tax Deductible?
Maybe. Consult a tax professional for the exact way you should handle your deductions. (Sorry, but we're technology geeks, not lawyers or tax advisors.)
Are My Corporate Sponsorship Contributions Tax Deductible?
Maybe. Remember that CodeMash is a 501(c)6 entity, not a 501(c)3 charity. Please see your own financial/legal advisors for the official word on how to handle your own tax position. (Did you really expect our lawyers to let us say anything else?)
