KidzMash

Need info? Ask us at KidzMash@codemash.org.

CodeMash is once again sponsoring KidzMash, a free family track for the spouses and families of attendees. Mkidzmash2017any attendees bring their families to the waterpark, and as there is only so much water skin can absorb before you need to dry out a bit, KidzMash is a way to connect and hangout together.

Over the years KidzMash has evolved into an official part of CodeMash, with its own sessions, activities, and full-time staff. At KidzMash 2016 we had 22 events attended by over 1,000 tushes which was several times bigger than the first CodeMash all those years ago.

KidzMash is a success because of the amazing CodeMash community and as always we appreciate your patience and cooperation as we have evolved.

KidzMash will once again be running all 4 days of CodeMash!

As always, KidzMash is a free event! However, this year we want to thank the Sandusky community for hosting us by holding a KidzMash food drive. If your travel plans allow, please bring a canned or dry good to be donated. When you arrive at CodeMash, and go to the KidzMash registration booth to pick up your badge, we will be collecting the donations and will deliver them at the end of the conference.

Per the insurance provider for CodeMash, we are required to tell you that unattended minors are not allowed at the conference. Unattended children will be given the Brian Prince 2017 hair color, a caramel espresso, five pounds of candy from the Candy Hut, a drumset, and an open source project.

Please ask the designated chaperone to fill out the order form corresponding with this ticket purchase. This is in bold print and we’re really hoping you read it.

Here is some of what we have planned:

KidzMash Sessionz

First, we cannot thank the CodeMash community enough for their time and knowledge to make this space happen. Your generosity has been the catalyst for the growth of KidzMash – you are amazing! Thank you.

This room is for the sessions that were submitted to KidzMash. The community submitted amazing talks and the only complaint we have is that we can’t fit them all in! It is an honor to bring the current community and the future community together.

KidzMash Open Spacez

Calling all attendees, KidzMash and CodeMash! Do you have something you want to share with the KidzMash community? This is your space to shine. Not only do we want kidz to present to kidz, we want parents and guardians to present to kidz.

Last year we saw everything from ginormous bubbles to Terrarria to Minecraft to nail art to parachute tot time to monster creation to open gaming. We want to see all that and more! Science projects, art classes, cello recitals, robots, dance offs, sharing inventions, and whatever else your wild, innovative minds can come up with.

When you arrive at the Kalahari, go to HangOutz to sign up for half hour blocks. You can sign up for up to an hour total at a time.

KidzMash Hangoutz

The place to be for geeklings of all ages to get to know each other. Duplos, games, Legos, crafts, books, and more will be housed here. Parents / guardians who do not wish to sit in a session, with your child, but must stay close, can choose to hangout in here. We ask that you begin in the room where your child will be attending a session so we know that we have appropriate child coverage.

WaterPark

Of course, there is also the waterpark where there will be clearly marked KidzMash Cabanaz all four days for meetups and the stashing of stuff. If you are not staying at the Kalahari you can pick up waterpark wristbands for everyone in your party at the KidzMash checkin.

Movies

Grab your jammies and join us for popcorn and a movie. Titles and times tba.

Kalahari Events

Be sure to check at the front desk for the events hosted by the Kalahari.

CodeMash Family Dinner

Three years ago we rolled out a family dinner on Thursday night. During the KidzMash registration process you can buy family dinner tickets and join us for dinner. This year the dinner will be held in the main Kalahari restaurants. You can check in for dinner at the Great Karoo Marketplace (behind the hotel registration desk, to the right.)

  • Cost is $15 per person for folks between the ages of 3 and 115.
  • Children two and under eat free. Folks over 115 eat free.
  • CodeMash attendees do not need to buy a ticket.
  • There will be an adult buffet featuring what is also being served to CodeMash attendees.
  • There will be a kid height buffet, with buckets of ketchup.
  • You can pick up your pre-purchased dinner tickets when you pick up your badges.
  • If you have a food allergy, you will be able to tell us about it during the registration process so we may plan to assist you.

CodeMash attendees will eat in the restaurant with your family. No need to run to the attendee dining room to get your food and run back. That’s just too much work.

Just a reminder that normally families cannot attend meals or regular sessions with CodeMash attendees. The fact is that food is the largest cost for the conference and the price to offer a family meal ticket is over $200 / per person. We don’t know many who would even consider doing that.

CodeMash Events

At CodeMash we want everyone to have a great time and we want to expose children early on to careers in the technology industry. As CodeMash is a family friendly conference, the families are invited to any after hour activity, including the water park party and reception on Thursday evening.

What does it cost to attend KidzMash?

  • Nothing! $0. Zilch. However, if your travel plans allow, please bring a canned or dry good donation for the KidzMash food drive!
  • As long as one of the parents / guardians are attendees of CodeMash, each registered family member (parent and child) will get a special KidzMash badge and access to all the fun.
  • Kidz will also receive a t-shirt, while supplies last.
