CodeMash is once again sponsoring KidzMash, a free family track for the spouses and families of attendees. Many attendees bring their families to the waterpark, and as there is only so much water skin can absorb before you need to dry out a bit, KidzMash is a way to connect and hangout together.
Over the years KidzMash has evolved into an official part of CodeMash, with its own sessions, activities, and full-time staff. At KidzMash 2018 our events were attended by over 1,000 tushes which was several times bigger than the first CodeMash all those years ago.
KidzMash will once again be running all 4 days of CodeMash!
As always, KidzMash is a free event!
Per the insurance provider for CodeMash, we are required to tell you that unattended minors are not allowed at the conference. Unattended children will be given the Brian Prince 2018 hair color, a caramel espresso, five pounds of candy from the Candy Hut, a drumset, and an open source project.
Please ask the designated chaperone to fill out the order form corresponding with this ticket purchase. This is in bold print and we’re really hoping you read it.
Here is some of what we have planned:
First, we cannot thank the CodeMash community enough for their time and knowledge to make this space happen. Your generosity has been the catalyst for the growth of KidzMash – you are amazing! Thank you.
This room is for the sessions that were submitted to KidzMash. The community submitted amazing talks and the only complaint we have is that we can’t fit them all in! It is an honor to bring the current community and the future community together.
Special note: Sessionz are available on first come, first serve basis until the session is full or any kits and materials are handed out. Sessionz is very popular so sharing will usually be required for any materials and kits provided.
KidzMash Divez — New!
For 2019 we are adding a handful of 2-hour sessions that will allow our older attendees the time to dig into a topic. Divez sessions will be attendee limited and free tickets will be “sold” using Eventbrite once the conference schedule has been finalized in December. Stay tuned for more details.
KidzMash Open Spacez
Calling all attendees, KidzMash and CodeMash! Do you have something you want to share with the KidzMash community? This is your space to shine. Not only do we want kidz to present to kidz, we want parents and guardians to present to kidz.
Last year we saw everything from ginormous bubbles to Terrarria to Minecraft to Cosmo to reading time to open gaming. We want to see all that and more! Science projects, art classes, cello recitals, robots, dance offs, sharing inventions, and whatever else your wild, innovative minds can come up with.
When you arrive at the Kalahari, go to HangOutz to sign up for half hour blocks. You can sign up for up to an hour total at a time. Due to the addition of Divez, the times will be more limited than in the past.
This space is dedicated to getting hands-on by performing and completing experiments and projects designed for parents and kidz of all ages to enjoy together!
As always, all minors must be accompanied by an adult at CodeMash. Each project is designed to be self-managed by parents and kidz so you can explore and create on your own. Makerz will be located in Banyan and will be proctored as some experiments are for check out and some are for take home!
Kits available for check out are required to be checked out and returned by an adult.
Hours for Makerz will be:
- 9am-noon and 2pm -5pm Tuesday through Thursday
- 10am-2pm on Friday
Remember to check back during different times as the projects available will change and some are limited.
The place to be for geeklings of all ages to get to know each other. Duplos, games, Legos, crafts, books, and more will be housed here. Parents / guardians who do not wish to sit in a session, with your child, but must stay close, can choose to hangout in here. We ask that you begin in the room where your child will be attending a session so we know that we have appropriate child coverage.
Of course, there is also the waterpark where there will be clearly marked KidzMash Cabanaz all four days for meetups and the stashing of stuff. If you are not staying at the Kalahari you can pick up waterpark wristbands for everyone in your party at the KidzMash checkin. Remember, families staying at offsite hotels still get access to the Kalahari waterpark all week. Your CodeMash attendee can pick up waterpark wristbands at Attendee Registration.
Grab your jammies and join us for popcorn and a movie. Titles and times TBA.
Be sure to check at the front desk for the events hosted by the Kalahari.
At CodeMash we want everyone to have a great time and we want to expose children early on to careers in the technology industry. As CodeMash is a family friendly conference, the families are invited to any after hour activity, including the water park party and reception on Thursday evening.
What does it cost to attend KidzMash?
- Nothing! $0. Zilch. However, if your travel plans allow, please bring a canned or dry good donation for the KidzMash food drive!
- As long as one of the parents / guardians are attendees of CodeMash, each registered family member (parent and child) will get a special KidzMash badge and access to all the fun.
- Kidz will also receive a t-shirt, while supplies last.
Special Session Tickets
Some sessions have limited seating. Once those sessions are scheduled, we will add tickets for them here. This will include KidzMash Laser Tag, KidzMash Artemis, KidzMash 3d Printing, and the special tour to the NASA testing facility. Most special sessions will be free. The related ticket will include more details.
More announcements will be coming soon. Follow @kidzmash and join the CodeMash Google group for updates.
